FromJapan Shopping Service Review

http://www.fromjapan.co.jp

안녕!

I've been meaning to write this post for a while but I kept on procrastinating and wrote those other posts instead. I'm just not really that familiar with all of the features that this website offers but I'll probably never use them and I can still write about what I do know.

So, I've been looking for a new shopping service after having tried out Japonica Market. You can find the review for it here
I've read about FromJapan before and it sounded interesting. They are cheaper than Japonica Market and I like the structure of the website.

You will have to make an account first but then you're good to go.

I go on Shopping instead of Auction and paste the link to the item into the box.

You will get this next. I filled some of the stuff in to show you what it would look like. But I think that everything is explained quite well by the website.
You will have to fill all of that out and then go on to the next page.

On the next page they will show you how much the total is. It will include your maximum bid or the price of the item and 200¥  as a fee for their service.
Then you can choose how you want to pay.
1. You can pay with points. You get points with every order and you can invite friends to join the website. You will get about 300 points for that. Every point is worth a ¥.
2. You can use your credit card or paypal. You will have some additional costs then but 5% aren't that bad and other shopping services charge you paypal fees as well.

You will have a list of the things you ordered when you go to your account.
You can see the status on the right side but you will also get emails whenever the status changes.
This is how many emails I got:

1. Confirmation that they received Charge 1
2. Order has been processed
(3. Email that they got my note to keep leaflets, catalogs or shopping bags/ This is optional and you will have to send them a message to let them know. Otherwise they will throw all of that away. I like to keep everything that's being send with my order, but that's up to you.)
4. Items received at warehouse
5. Confirmation they received Shipping instructions
6. Confirmation packing the package was finished
7. Charge 2 has been sent
8. Charge 2 Payment has been received
9. Order has been shipped

I've ordered several items so I got some of these mails 2 or 3 times.

You will have 30 days, after you Items have arrived at the warehouse, to fill in the shipping instructions. Some shopping services hold your items longer than 30 days but I think that should be enough.
Once your stuff has been packed, you will have 3 days to pay the 2nd Charge. If you do not pay in these 3 days, you will have to pay a fee.

These are the shipping instructions:

You can choose what items you want to be in a package together, how it should be packed and what shipping method you want.
Although you already choose a shipping method here, you will have to choose it again later when you pay for Charge 2.
That means you can still change it.

This would be Charge 2:

Unlike Japonica Market, you can change the value on the invoice here. It might be interesting to some of you.

As I mentioned above, you can still change your shipping method here. I picked FedEx at first but then changed my mind and went for EMS. It's cheaper and I never had problems with it before.

The last part is the overview of the total for Charge 2. You pay the overseas shipping, domestic shipping in Japan and the Bank transfer fee which has been used to pay for your things. On top of that you have the 5% Paypal fee.
That's it for the ordering process.

It didn't take that long for me to get the packages. My first order was delivered to my door but then second one got stuck at customs. I wish they would always deliver to my door.

These were 2 orders. Everything was inside a separate plastic bag and packed carefully. The box was not damaged and there was enough paper inside to keep the mirror safe.

Pros:

 Cheapest Commission Fee
 Well-structured Website
 Many Status Updates
 Fast Replies
Many Shipping Options to choose from/More than what other SS offer
 Points System

Buy from Auctions Sites like Mbok/Yahoo Auctions and Shoppies
 Fluent in English
 Packages safely packed
You can change the value on the invoice
Hold items for up to 30 days

Cos:

You need to make an account
Website might be confusing for some?
You have to pay an extra fee if you don't pay in time
Only hold items for 30 days

I can't really think of many negative points. I only used it twice but it was a good experience each time.

Also, I finally have both colors! Some of you might have seen this picture on Instagram a few months ago when I got this package. I'm so in love with this dress.

Anyway, that's it. Leave me a comment ^^

  1. Ah cute haul!!
I might have to try out this shopping service in the future! I like that they let you pick what shipping method you prefer, and then re-confirm it later on.

    1. Thank you!
I would definitely recommend this shopping service. Japonica Market is okay but I prefer this one and Jamie/TokyoPirates doesn't do online orders anymore ><

  2. FromJapan is my favorite SS. I think they're really professional and their fee is cheap! The only thing I don't like is the system usage & bank transfer fee, it can add up haha. I really like the floral dress you got! Both of the colors are really cute~ ^ ^
